History of Freemasonry from 1829 to 1855
$25.99
By George Oliver
Published in 2008
Hardcover
During this period, Freemasonry held to its progressive and improving course, and it may be said that the Craft advanced at least as rapidly as any other individual institution. There was throughout the whole Masonic community an intense excitement respecting the philosophy of Masonry. Freemasonry was taking root in the widespread and remote places of the world as an effect of British colonialism. Conversely, in southern Europe, serious obstacles curtailed Freemasonry and halted its progress. A jealousy rose against the existence of Secret Societies of every description, because it was well known that in the Lodges of the Illuminati dangerous principles were inculcated to which the revolution in France and all its associated evils and miseries have been attributed. In this work, the eminent Masonic scholar George Oliver takes us on a journey through one of the most important periods in Masonic history. This book was originally published in 1855.
